The Lighthouse Learning Hub is a Co-Working Space for Kids and Teens, facilitated by Occupational Therapists, and Educators.

Let's do things differently.

School teaches kids to behave.

Lighthouse supports them to succeed.

Our kids are growing up in a different world — faster, more digital, more complex. They’re thinking in new ways, processing more information, and navigating pressures that didn’t exist a generation ago. But the school model? It hasn’t changed much. Same desks. Same pacing. Same expectations that every brain should move in the same way, at the same time.

When bright, creative, sensitive, or neurodivergent kids don’t thrive in that system, it doesn’t mean they’re the problem. It often means the model is outdated.

Lighthouse was built for the world they’re actually living in. Coworking, daily OT support, flexible structure, skill-building for executive functioning, emotional regulation, and independence. High support. High standards. Different approach.

Because the future won’t be one size fits all — and their education shouldn’t be either.

Today the Vredehoek crew rolled up their sleeves and made sandwiches to donate to The Service Dining Room, supporting a space that feeds those who need it most. Giving back, learning empathy, and understanding that community stretches beyond our own walls. Community isn’t just something we talk about: it’s something we do.

Kindness is cool. Not because it’s trendy, but because it changes the way a space feels. It’s in the small things. It’s in the “I can help you”, or the bracelet made for another. It’s in the “come sit with us” and the gentle way of being.

The Vredehoek kids also created air-dry clay figures of themselves. Each one reflects personality, identity, and individuality, reminding us that community is made up of people who are beautifully different, and the way each person adds something special to the whole.
